WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND (ISOC)? The International Special Operations Command (also known as "Flash Force") is a fictitious unit whose mission is to combat the threats of terrorism on every level. The ISOC is not affiliated in any way with any government or official agency. WHO MANAGES FLASH FORCE? Flash Force is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board consists of nine (9) Flash Force members whose dedication to the group has been proven over time and whose service has been exemplary. Although there is a real Thunder Bay in Canada, the location referred to in our website is fictitious. The inspiration for our Thunder Bay comes from a small cove called "Emerald Bay" on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, California. Photographs taken from this area and other locations in the Sierra Nevada Mountains are occasionally used as backdrops for our website images. HOW DID FLASH FORCE GET ITS START? A career police officer in real life, the ISOC Executive Director has always had a strong interest in the fields of emergency management and counter-terrorism. He developed the USDOC/ISOC storyline as background for his hobby, which is constructing and photographing realistic diorama scenes using sixth-scale action figures. Executive Director Terstegge's award-winning work was first published on the Internet in February of 1999, when he established the Brigade Headquarters website. Response to the website was so overwhelmingly positive that he created Flash Force as an online fan club. Since then, Flash Force has enlisted over three hundred (300) members in over twelve (12) nations. WHO MAY JOIN FLASH FORCE? Any person over the age of eighteen (18) years may join Flash Force, provided that he or she meets the minimum eligibility requirements and agrees to abide by the Terms of Membership. Flash Force members share a common interest in 1:6 (sixth-scale--or 12") action figures (including G.I. Joe, The Ultimate Soldier, America's Finest, Elite Force, Dragon, Action Man, Soldiers of the World, Power Team, and other toy lines). Although a majority of the group members have "real-world" experience in the military or public safety career fields, its membership includes individuals from all walks of life. Regardless of their backgrounds, Flash Force members are fiercely loyal to the group and truly deserving of their motto..."Elite of the elite!" HOW MUCH DOES MEMBERSHIP COST? All memberships are free. IF THIS IS A HOBBY GROUP, WHY IS MEMBERSHIP RESTRICTED TO ADULTS ONLY? While Flash Force is organized for recreational purposes, special operations and counter-terrorist issues are mature topics. Group discussions, even though they are kept at a professional level, often relate to the use of weapons or violence, military tactics, and terrorist methods. We acknowledge that some discussions or material may not be appropriate for younger or more sensitive viewers. Therefore, we have chosen to respect the rights of our members and our visitors by limiting group access to adults only. MAY NON-ADULTS PARTICIPATE AT ALL? Certainly! Although membership in the group may be restricted to responsible adults, we wholeheartedly encourage our members to share their hobby activities with those of all ages, including those who are not yet over the age of eighteen (18) years. Group members often involve younger friends or family members in their hobby and such well-supervised activities prove to be of benefit to everyone. HOW MAY I JOIN? Becoming a member of Flash Force is easy! To enjoy the benefits of membership in Flash Force, simply visit our Terms of Membership page and review the provisions. If you agree to abide by these terms, simply visit our Subscription Page and click the "Join this Group!" link. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I JOIN? Quite simply put, you will become a member of the largest and most elite scale special operations force in the world today! Once your application has been received and approved, we will e-mail you a new member packet. The new member packet will provide you with all the information you need to get started and become active in our group. As soon as you receive your membership packet you will be authorized to participate in any of the activities afforded by your membership class. WHERE DO YOU OBTAIN ITEMS FOR YOUR DIORAMAS? Nearly all the items featured on the Command Headquarters website may be purchased at a wide selection of retail stores. The action figures themselves may be purchased in the toy sections of popular stores such as Target, Walmart, Toys 'R' Us, KB Toys, and K-Mart. Many of the accessories shown may also be purchased at these stores. There are a large number of online sources for these items as well. Online dealers such as Justice-Fighters, Small Blue Planet, and War-Toys have a large selection of figures, uniforms, and accessories. Please check our Links page for links to these and other online sources. There are also a number of custom made and "kit-bashed" items featured on our website pages. "Kit-bashing" refers to the practice of mixing and matching parts from one figure or set to achieve a certain look. Some of the custom (made by hand) items include furniture, buildings, and signs. The patches and badges displayed on the figures were simply printed out by computer. Please note that all Flash Force patches, badges and other logos are copyrighted materials.
