Flash Force is a recreational hobby group dedicated to the service of special operations, counter-terrorism, and scale action figure enthusiasts worldwide. The unit takes pride in its station as the world's first and foremost scale special operations community.

ESTABLISHMENT

The idea for Flash Force was first conceived in late 1998, when its founder (Executive Director Terstegge) began work on a hobby website. A career police officer and avid action figure fan, Terstegge has always had a profound interest in the fields of emergency management and counter-terrorism. He developed the fictitious "United States Department of Counter-Terrorism" (or USDOC) as a background for his hobby, which is constructing dioramas and photographing sixth-scale action figures in lifelike settings.

Executive Director Terstegge introduced his first efforts on the Internet in February of 1999 when he published his website, "Brigade Headquarters". Responding to overwhelming visitor interest, he developed "Flash Force" as an online discussion group for website fans. He incorporated the group into the USDOC storyline by commissioning it as the department's reserve element. The new Flash Force members accepted their appointments as "Reserve Commanding Officers" and enthusiastically began developing their own scale commands.

With interest in the group and member involvement steadily increasing, Terstegge created a number of special programs that allowed group members to participate in a variety of unit missions and in group management as well. These highly popular activities proved to be the catalyst for even further growth and advancement.

POST 9-11 DEVELOPMENTS

After tragic terrorist incidents occurred in the United States on September 11, 2001 and the United States Department of Homeland Security was subsequently established in 2002, further development of the USDOC storyline seemed appropriate. The fictitious "United States Department of Counter-Terrorism" was officially decommissioned and transformed into a hallmark private enterprise--the International Special Operations Command (also known as "ISOC" or "Flash Force") .

This new private role was much better suited to Flash Force's multinational composition and adapted itself well to the increasing trend toward military outsourcing--the practice through which military units employ private contractors to handle many of the tasks and missions that had once been their sole responsibility.

TODAY

Today, Flash Force enjoys a well-deserved reputation as the most active and professionally-oriented group of its kind. This reputation comes easily, for many of today's Flash Force members currently serve in or have prior "real world" experience in the public safety, military, or special operations fields.

Professional backgrounds notwithstanding, Flash Force members are fiercely loyal to each other and the unit. Together, they enjoy an enduring spirit of teamwork, honor, and camaraderie that is rarely found outside the true special operations and military communities.

THE FUTURE

The future of Flash Force remains bright and it is likely to be limited only by the skills and imagination of its members. To date, Flash Force has enlisted well over three hundred members in over twelve representative nations across the globe. The group aggressively continues its pursuit of excellence and hopes to welcome even more fine members to its ranks.

If you are an action figure fan, value excellence and teamwork, and would like to become involved in scale counter-terrorist and special operations, we hope you will consider joining us!
