In an effort to promote and improve its readiness and response capabilities, Flash Force conducts four (4) Tactical Response Exercises (TOPEX) each year. Participation in these exercises is voluntary but highly encouraged for all units.

TOPEX OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the TOPEX Program shall be to:
  • Provide regular opportunities for unitwide interaction and training; and,
  • Provide for the advancement of unit capabilities to even higher levels.

TOPEX SCHEDULE

TOPEX activities shall be conducted each February, May, August, and November. Reminders for these exercises will be posted via the main Flash Force list on the first day of each scheduled month. All Flash Force units will be placed in "standby" status at that time.

TOPEX ACTIVITIES

TOPEX activities may include but are not limited to any of the following:
Online Mission: Any stand-alone, brief, and minimally-interactive (or "limited engagement") activity that is conducted entirely via the Internet. Operation: April's Fool, Operation: Long Range, and Operation: Urban Blast, and Special Unit online exercises, scenarios, or missions are considered online missions.

Interactive Online Operation: Any complex, fully-interactive (or "full engagement") role-playing activity conducted via the Internet (not including MAP Missions). Examples of Interactive Online Operations include those conducted by e-mail, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network, or computer gaming system network (Rainbow 6, X-Box, etc.).

Field Exercise: Any unit training activity that is intended to simulate the conditions of a "real world" training activity and that is not primarily conducted online. Examples of Field Exercise activities include but are not limited to airborne operations, fixed- or rotary-wing aviation flights, and tactical ground or waterborne operations.

CONCEPT OF OPERATIONS

Once they have been notified of an impending TOPEX, participating units shall remain alert for further official instructions. In order to successfully complete the exercise, each participating unit must respond as instructed within seventy-two (72) hours of receiving official TOPEX orders.

Once official TOPEX orders have been issued, in order to be valid, all operations must be conducted via the Flash Force Operations Network (OPSNET). To access OPSNET, please visit the following link: Note: In order to ensure participation and a timely approval for access to OPSNET, all new users should request enrollment to the network within forty-eight (48) hours of receiving their initial TOPEX reminder notice. Those members not approved for OPSNET access prior to this deadline must wait until the next scheduled TOPEX before they may participate.
